Published in 2007 this book was based on my PhD research. In it I explore the ways in which a soft core magazine For Women attempted to speak to female readers and, perhaps more importantly, how those readers assessed the magazine. Along the way I examine a range of ideas and concepts including the possibility of a ‘female gaze’ and how and why some erotic stories are successful.
